That one totally cracks me up!!! I've helped propagate that meme!
I had a conversation with my uncle a few months back, and it went something like this:
"What instrument do you play again?"
"A cello..."
"Is that like a guitar?"
"...ummm...not really...it's a stringed instrument played in orchestras"
"Oh, like a violin!"
"No, it's bigger than violin, but I guess it does look like a big violin..."
"You mean the really big one that's as tall as I am?"
"No, that's a double bass. It's smaller than that... it's the one that's in between the smallest and biggest violin looking instrument."
Yeah, that really came out of my mouth...oops!! All the while my husband is in the background shaking his head and smiling! We finally just took out our iphones and showed him some YouTube videos!

...hmmm...yep, I definitely think I'm suffering from this!
Always hard to explain what a cello is right? It's either violin or double bass to the 'mainstream' world(although I pity my violist friends, in our mother-tongue language, 'violin' often translated to 'viola', so imagine the confusion)
